Sox 3 Blue Jays 7

Sox lose another, this one was never close. Freddy Garcia pitched for the Sox, and didn't have his best stuff tonight. He let up 7 earned runs in 3 innings. Not what the skipper ordered, Ozzie wanted his pitcher to pitch late in the game tonight because the bullpen has been working overtime. Tonight we had to finish out 5 innings, and it the bullpen pitched great. That was just about the only other bright spot, other than Donny Lucy's first career home run. The Jays played another game in front of a scarce crowd, and this has been a mystery throughout the series... The Jays are first in the powerful AL East, with the likes of Boston and New York. They also have the second best record in the Majors, second to the surprising San Francisco Giants and the Philadelphia Phillies. Anyway the Sox have had a disappointing against the Jays, not the team but the dome. We have been terrible in domes in the past! In this series we got the first win in the Rogers Centre in 10 years! Also the Twins used to have a dome and now they have the elegant Target™ Field. So hopefully we can string a few together against the lowly Indians. Go Sox! Tomorrows probables, for the Sox: Buehrle (2-0, 2.40) and for the Indians: Talbot (0-1, 7.20)

Sox 11 Blue Jays 1

Tonight the Sox had a offensive outburst, seen by all 10,610 fans in the Rogers Centre. Sox beat the Jays 11-1, John Danks pitched for the Sox and Brandon Morrow pitched for the Jays. Danks pitched an amazing game 7 innings and only 2 hits allowed along with one earned run. Brandon Morrow did not pitch his best, evident by the 11-1 score and also because he allowed 9 men to reach base in only four innings, and let up 7 earned runs. The offense really showed how dangerous they can be, when they are clicking on all cylinders. A healthy Carlos Quentin can only mean good things for the Sox especially when he's producing like he did tonight. Quentin drove in 6 runs on two hits, one of which was a grand slam. The Jays almost set their record low for attendance which was 10,074. I haven't seen a stadium empty like this one in quite a long time. I mean the Sox don't exactly overflow their stadium but get at least 75% full. The Jays tonight filled 21% of their stadium, and it can't be because of their record, they are 6-3 which is much better than most of the league. Glad the Sox could pull this one out, hopefully we can see some consistent offense, and not go from a 1 hit night to a 15 hit night. Go Sox! Tomorrow's probables, for the Sox: Freddy Garcia (0-1, 2.57) and for the Blue Jays: Dana Eveland (1-0, 0.00).

Sox 2 Blue Jays 4

Quite a game by Blue Jays pitcher Ricky Romero. Sox lost 4-2, the starters were Gavin Floyd for the Sox and as most people know for the Jays it was Ricky Romero. Gavin Floyd pitched a fine game, his line was 6 innings and 4 earned runs. He pitched a solid game, which most of the time would get a pitcher a win in some circumstances. However, this was not just some circumstance. Ricky Romero for the Jays pitched a gem, keeping a no hitter into the eighth until a A.J Pierzynski (spelled it right) walk and a no doubter of a home run by Ex Blue Jay Alex Rios off a hanging change up. Romero had been throwing that change up all night, and it he kept throwing it. Until he threw a hanger and Rios let him know. This game was not lost solely upon the fact that the Sox had one hit, the Sox lost the game because we were facing a great pitcher in Ricky Romero.

Sox 8 Blue Jays 7

Sox win as they out slugged the Toronto Blue Jays 8-7. Jake Peavy started the game for the Sox and he matched up against the Blue Jay's Brian Tallet. Jake Peavy had a rough game, Peavy's line was 5.2 Innings, 8 hits, and allowed 7 earned runs. Peavy struggled today because he is a hard ball pitcher, he pitches hard fastballs and hard sliders. Therefore today he did not have anything that slowed down the pace and nothing did today. The Blue Jays knew what was coming, something that was going to be fast so they did not have much guessing to do and just swung the bat well. Brian Tallet also had a rough start his line was 6 innings, 8 hits, and 6 earned runs. He had trouble staying ahead in the count, as he fell behind the Sox hitters, who took advantage of his mistakes later in the count. Today was all about the new guys: Mark Teahen, Andruw Jones, and Alex Rios. Mark Teahen hit a single which tied the game in the sixth inning, he then hit a homer in the ninth to tie it up when our backs were against the wall late in the game, and finally in the eleventh inning he hit a triple to deep right center scoring pinch runner Omar Vizquel. Talk about clutch, we have been waiting to see that from him, since we acquired him. Andruw Jones had a multi homer night, and hit an rbi single. We are beginning to see glimpses of the old Andruw Jones, the one that hit 51 home run and drove in 128 in 2005. Also Alex Rios joined in playing in a very hostile environment because every time he did anything in the game fans would were booing like crazy. He had three hits, and hopefully we can see more of this because he has been hitting anything thrown to him this season. This game to me will be a turning point and now we can really get on a roll here and hopefully put a couple of wins in a row. As far as Peavy goes, I am not to worried. I think that he will be able to turn it around, his first start was decent but I didn't expect much of him in 38 degree weather and this start was rather awful. However, he is still a great pitcher and there is no doubt in my mind that he won't succeed this season, simply because he doesn't want to let him and his team down. I am ecstatic that the offense kept producing in such clutch times, and was relived that we won this game after performing so brilliantly, at least on the offensive side. Go Sox! Tomorrow's probables for the Sox: Floyd (0-0, 3.00) and for the Jays Ricky Romero (0-0, 1.29)

Sox 5 Twins 4

Great game by the Sox today, as the Sox win 5-4. Todays starters were Mark Buehrle for the Sox and Nick Blackburn for the Twins. Buehrle struggled early, but did what he does best. Buehrle fought through the heart of the Twins lineup as they scored 4 runs early in the game. Blackburn pitched a solid game, as he usually does against the Sox. He pitched 7.2 innings and let up 5 earned runs. Buehrle logged 8 innings gave up 4 runs and 8 hits. Big game from the Sox bats, Konerko hit a 2 run homer. Konerko is on fire! He has hit 3 long ones in 6 games while driving in 7 runs. He has been consistent for the Sox and that can only mean good things if he's healthy and swinging the bat. Gordon Beckham and Mark Kotsay both joined in on the homer party as they each slugged their first homers of the season. However, the play of the game was when pinch hitting Andruw Jones lined a single to left field and scored Carlos Quentin to give us a 5-4 lead. Then Bobby Jenks proved that he has not deteriorated as a pitcher and is still a strong closer now matter how much he weighs. This game should be a turning point as the Sox embark upon a road trip to Canada to the Rodgers Centre to face off against the Toronto Blue Jays. I am glad to see that the Sox bats picked up, and I am relieved that the bullpen got a break today because of Mark Buehrle's gutsy performance today. If our guys start hitting consistently, and the pitchers keep it close we will be able to win a lot of games. This is comparable to the 2000 Oakland A's when they had a great pitching staff with the likes of Mark Mulder, Tim Hudson, and Barry Zito (like the Sox this year). They kept their opponents close, and came into the game with the mindset that if they kept it close their offense would be able to come through and win some games. Knowing that this has been done before, I believe that this will be the theme for our 2010 Sox. Go Sox! Next games probables for the Sox: Jake Peavy (0-0, 5.40) and for the Jays: Brian Tallet (1-0, 2.70)

Sox 1 Twins 2

Sox lost another close one early this afternoon. It was Freddy Garcia for the Sox and Scott Baker for the Twins. Garcia had a surprisingly good start, after a rough spring in which he had many people doubting his readiness for the 2010 season. Garcia pitched 7 strong innings in which he only gave up two runs, on a two run homer by Jason Kubel to right center field. Baker pitched a gem against the Sox, the Sox could not muster enough firepower to score runs. He also pitched 7 solid innings allowing only 5 hits and striking out 3. His only blemish was a Mark Teahen RBI double to right center, his first hit as a member of the Sox. Baker has been successful in the past against the Sox, and has been a decent starter during his Major League career. He is a high ball pitcher, who induces a lot of fly balls. He had 10 fly ball outs this afternoon, and the Sox hitters just could not get under them. This resulted in a 1 run display by the Sox and only 6 hits. John Rauch closed out the game with his league leading fourth save in 6 games. He has succeeded in his calling, and has stepped up to the closer role because of Joe Nathan's injury. The White Sox yet again had trouble producing runs, and capitalizing when they had runners in scoring position. There is no offense being produced to compliment the above average pitching by our starters. Also the bullpen pitched well today, especially Scott Linebrink. I don't think you will hear me saying this a lot during the course of the season but Linebrink was clutch today for the Sox. He was brought in and had to deal with a bases loaded jam, and got out of it. If Linebrink can be a arm we can rely on this season, then that can only spell success because the offense will eventually pick up. Otherwise we wil lose the remaining 158 games of the season. Tomorrow's probables, for the Sox: Buehrle (1-0, 0.00) and for the Twins: Blackburn (1-0, 4.05). Go Sox!

Sox 3 Twins 4

Another dejecting loss on the south side as the Sox lost another heartbreaker tonight. The Sox finished 3 runs, 10 hits, and 2 errors. The Twins finished 4 runs, 10 hits, and no errors. The starters were John Danks for the Sox, and Francisco Liriano for the Twinkies. The Sox missed key opportunities late in the game when there were two on for pinch hitter Mark Teahen who grounded into the inning ending and rally ending double play. John Danks pitched a solid game, and game which should have gotten him a win. His line: 6 innings 8 hits 2 runs 1 earned run and 6 strikeouts. He recorded a quality start, Danks has proven that he is a good pitched but always seems to be let down late in the game by the bullpen. Tonight he was definitely let down by the bullpen, and tonight's culprit is Tony Pena. Tony Pena pitched 3 solid innings, but had 2 key walks late in the game which proved to be the go ahead run for the Twinkies. There was a questionable call made by home plate umpire Cris Guccione (bad past with Sox manager Ozzie Guillen) who called a ball when the pitch could have gone either, looked like a strike though. Anyway the next pitch J.J Hardy hit a liner to short stop Alexei Ramirez who dove over the ball, go ahead run scores 4-3. Bullpen have blown the game 2 out of the 4 games, this is a trend that is not acceptable. These relievers make my heart rate go up when Ozzie calls to the pen. So far the only steady guys have been newcomer Sergio Santos and Matt Thornton. If we aren't going to have a solid bullpen we at least need to have solid defense. Alexei Ramirez could easily be the worst short stop (defensively) in the American League, if not all of baseball. For all of his web gems, I would trade all of those for a defensively consistent short stop. C'mon Sox. Next game 4/10 probables: for the Sox: Freddy Garcia and for the Twins: Scott Baker.
